Thanks for the feedback.

 

I am not connecting from behind a corporate firewall and all outbound ports are open. I tried connecting to port 22 via SSH using PuTTY and user root but was unable to connect. I also tried pinging the host and ports 80, 8000, and 30015 using http://www.ping.eu/port-chk/ and confirmed that these ports are closed.

 

Interestingly, I checked the AWS Security Group Inbound traffic for the public IP and there are rules that were set up when the instance was created that allow access to ports 22, 80, 8000, and 30015 from any IP so I am puzzled as to why I cannot establish a connection.
